Batik workshop

£25
Tutor is Kerry Gowlett
Learn the delights of working with Batik - The art of decorating cloth using wax and dye.
Our theme  for the day will be Natural Forms - flowers, plants so please bring in images you would like to work with.
We will work together sketching out our illustration design(s) on paper and
transfer the design on to fabric and work with canting tools using a traditional hot wax resist method which acts like a barrier to the colour dyes added.
The colour applied will remain on the fabric whilst the remaining non - waxed fabric absorbs the dye. And  you end up with a beautiful image!
You could bring a plain white cotton tea shirt to dye - Primark is a good cheap source for  these.
Kerry is an Art and Graphic Communication teacher at Brockenhurst College.
