Summer Workshops at the Studio

6th June Saturday
Upcycle and customise your clothes.
10 - 4pm
£40
Tutor Jacqui Engel will guide and inspire you.

Please bring an interesting selection of clothes you would like to work on.

All trimmings, buttons etc provided but you are welcome to bring your own too.

Please bring your sewing machine and a basic sewing kit including an unpicker. We will  have a few sewing machines available for those that do not own one.

The Art of Decoupage Workshop: Full but runs again 12th July
earn how to combine paint effects with beautiful images to transform a wooden box into something wonderful to take home.

Creative Painting Workshops
3 Hours to let go, explore and discover!

Natasha supplies all materials including a large canvas and refreshments. There is the option of £30 if you bring your own canvas, board or thick paper to paint on.

I am passionate about helping people find their creative style, this happens through being open to letting go and of having to do it right and get it perfect. I take you on a journey to meet your creative self and discover many things on the way.
A time for you to tap into your creative energy and nourish your heart and soul! Great if you are feeling a bit blocked in your life either creatively or generally or you just fancy trying something different!

Embroidery workshop 5/6 :colour in embroidery.
Appliqué work: Dates back to the ancient Egyptians, Persians, Greeks and the Crusades.

Participants in the workshop will be making a Mola , a form of applique from the San Blas islands in Panama.  Molas are a 'waste-no-fabric' method of applique using layers of material. All three ways of making applique will be utilised: overlay (or traditional) applique; reverse applique, where lower layers of coloured material are exposed; inlay applique, where small pieces of coloured material are inserted under the top layer and then exposed.

Mountmellick work: a form of white work dating  from the Irish potato famine.

Mountmellick white work was introduced around 1830 to Ireland as a cottage industry to help women earn money during the devastating potato famine.  Worked white on white , it is a heavily textured hand-stitchery technique that displays naturalistic designs in relief. Last workshop in a series of six, which will be repeated from September 2015 as all-day sessions.

4-colour Reduction Lino Printing
With artist Laura Joy
10 - 4
£40 all materials provided

Create an edition of vibrant & exciting Lino prints, using this technique where colours are built up by cutting away the block and printing over the top of previous colours. 

This technique is suitable for beginners but also offers an opportunity to take your Lino printing to the next level. 

This effective way of creating graphic, colourful relief prints can also be used for wood block & foam board printing, please bring these materials if you wish to work with them. 

A Lino block, tools, inks & paper will be provided.
