Contemporary Textiles Course is coming to an end but new course starting in June

And this is what they have been doing over the last six sessions - beautiful work from the group and their inspiring tutor Leah Watts.

The next set of classes are on the 12th, 19th, 26th June and 3rd, 10th and 17th July. Thursday evenings 7  - 9pm.  £60 for six 2 hour sessions.


Using Procion MX dyes we will colour, make marks and use printmaking techniques to create individual textile pieces. You will be free to bind, stitch, wrap and paint with colour to your heart’s content
Over the six weeks you will learn to print on, use resist techniques with fabric and paper, practice various ways of transferring images and using stitch and fabric manipulation work your fabrics into a collaged art quilt or collecting ideas for a project.
No experience needed, only enthusiasm.

Wk 1. Colouring fabrics. Dress for mess (Small charge for dye)

Wk 2. Print and Pattern. Dress for mess

Wk 3. Creating surfaces

Wk 4. Stitch and slash

Wk 5. Free machine embroidery

Wk 6. Quilting and design ideas.

Leah Watts is a practicing artist and facilitator of community workshops with the Textile Tarts. Leah's passion for contemporary textiles and techniques is obvious from her sketchbooks and projects and she delights in sharing her enthusiasm with others. As a keen quilter Leah has been a member of the Quilters Guild and Embroiderers Guild for many years and has written on the therapeutic values of stitch.


£10 a session and six sessions payable in advance please. Total £60

     For all the people who attended the last Shibori Session at the studio on May 10th,  as requested by you all, we are running a follow on session,  on August 31st. Please can you send me your £10 deposits asap. And let me know if you have changed your mind and no longer want to come, Thanks.
The cost of this course is £30 this time as you wanted to provide/pre-prepare your fabrics. Annabel will be teaching new techniques for us to learn.
I will fill up this course with new people once I know how many of you are booking.
For new people the cost will be £40 as the tutor provides all the fabric.
